ETC是Ethereum Classic的简称，中文名称是以太坊经典，俗称二姨太，以太坊经典创建于2016年，当时黑客利用以太坊去中心化自治组织DAO(Decentralized Autonomus Organization)的漏洞，盗取了价值约5,000万美元的以太币，事后为了解决此争论，以太社区大部分的人选择了硬分叉，创建并发展一条新链为以太币;而反对硬分叉的人则留在原有链上，即为以太坊经典。
ETC, a acronym for Etherum Classic, was created in 2016 by the popularly known as Teen Tai, in Chinese, when hackers stole NT$50 million worth of NT in order to resolve the controversy by choosing a large part of the community to create and develop a new chain in TT currency, while those who opposed it remained in the original chain, i.e., in the original chain.
以太经典 (Ethereum Classic) 是经过以太坊项目针对DAO资金问题进行硬分叉后未遵从或未升级的以太坊区块分支，保留了原有以太坊的代码规则和特色。以太坊区块链硬分叉之后，出现了原有以太坊网络与新的网络Ethereum Classic并存的状况。一群坚持区块链核心价值的开发者组成Ethereum Classic，发行独立的加密货币ETC。作为一种完整的货币，吸引了之前错失投资机会的一批人;而且与原有以太坊的相似之处，也是一种坚守以太坊模式的方式。
The original Etherium network coexists with the new Etherium Classic. A group of developers that adhere to the core value of the chain of blocks form Etheum Classic and issue an independent encrypted currency ETC. As a complete currency, it attracts a group of people who have missed investment opportunities before; and similarity to the original Ethereum network is also a way to adhere to the taupule model.
2017年12月11日发布ECIP 1017文件，重新为ETC的发行做出了限定：区块高度达到5,000,000时，区块奖励将减少20%，此后每5,000,000区块再降低20%。 由于ETC奖励率的变化，预计总供应量约为2.1亿ETC，最高不会超过2.3亿ETC。
On 11 December 2017, the ECIP 1017 document was released, relimiting the issuance of ETC: when blocks reach 5,000,000, the block incentive will be reduced by 20 per cent, and thereafter by 20 per cent for every 5,000,000 blocks. As a result of changes in the ETC incentive rate, the total supply is expected to be about 210 million ETC, with a maximum of no more than 230 million ETC.
ETC将于区块高度10000000处，进行第一次减产，区块奖励将减少20%，减少后区块奖励为3.2 ETC，预计日期在2020年3月份。
The ETC will reduce production for the first time at a height of 10 million blocks, with a 20 per cent reduction in block incentives and a 3.2 per cent reduction in post-block incentives, with a target date of March 2020.
第一，去中心化还是中心化
ETC通过拒绝从DAO攻击者手中取回资金将自身打造成了一个真正交易不可逆的区块链。正是由于其主导意识的纯洁性才为ETC持续发展提供源源不断的动力。ETC的兴起也证明了去中心化、不受监管的区块链系统的力量，交易者和其他主要的区块链参与者都被ETC的这一特质吸引。
By refusing to recover funds from the DAO attackers, the ETC has created a chain of genuine transactions that are irreversible. It is the purity of its dominant ideology that provides a dynamic for the continued development of the ETC.
第二，稀缺
硬分叉发生后，ETH和ETC的货币政策也走到了岔路口。ETH目前没有上限，处于持续增发阶段。而ETC已经回归了奥地利经济学派的传统，按照比特币的方式进行了减产规划，最后的发行总量不会超过2.3亿。
After the hard fork, the monetary policies of ETH and ETC also reached a fork in the road. The ETH is currently without a cap and is in a sustained growth phase.
第三，POW还是POS
Third, Pow or POS
区块链的核心是共识机制，POW基于工作量证明的机制目前已经被市场证明是最优秀的制度，数字加密货币总市值排名前十有八都是基于POW机制。最早提出POS机制的点点币，已经几乎消亡。拥有币本身会产生更多币这个设置会导致严重的马太效应，令富者越富，穷者越穷。如果我们做不到结果公平，我们至少可以做到机制公平。对于POW来说，矿工随时可以选择挖或者不挖某种矿，而对于POS来说，后入者则完全失去了参与机会。另外热钱包在线挖矿还会导致严重的安全性问题，容易导致黑客攻击，这一点在点点币上已经发生了。ETC开发者社区已经明确表示不会类似ETH改用POS，ETC采用POW共识算法，让任何动态组网接入的节点都有利可图。
At the heart of the block chain is the consensus mechanism, the Pow-based mechanism has now proved to be the best system in the market, and the top 10 eight of the total market value of digital crypto-currency is based on the Pow mechanism. The point money that was first proposed for the POS mechanism is almost dead. Having the currency itself will have a significant Martian effect, making the rich richer and the poor poorer. If we fail to achieve a fair result, we can at least be fair. For Pow, miners can choose to dig or not to dig some kind of mine, while for POS, late entrants simply lose the opportunity to participate.
第四，匿名还是公开
匿名对于加密数字货币用户非常重要，但目前几乎没有任何主流的加密数字货币提供匿名功能。最近ETC社区的ECIP-1025提案，希望ETC加入zk-SNARK验证。一旦提案被激活，ETC用户将享受交易记录匿名服务。毕竟增强交易的隐私性和匿名性并不是件坏事。目前ETC开发者社区对此提案非常感兴趣，可预见在不久的将来，ETC会成为BTC、ETH及ZCash的结合体，只是少了发行代币ICO的功能。
Anonymous is important for encrypted digital money users, but there is currently hardly any mainstream encryption digital money to provide anonymity. Recently, the ETC community ECIP-1025 proposal, hoping that ETC will join the zk-SNARK validation. Once the proposal is activated, ETC users will benefit from the transaction log anonymity service. After all, it is not a bad thing to increase the privacy and anonymity of the transaction.
以太经典的亮点是引入EIP-161，将能够以更低成本删除ETC网络中的空帐户，清除状体树中冗余的状态信息，减少区块体积，新增每个区块中打包交易的条数，防止块拥堵现象产生，使整个ETC区块链网络的功能和性能都能够得到大幅提升。
The classic highlight is the introduction of EIP-161, which will be able to remove empty accounts from the ETC network at a lower cost, remove redundant information from the form tree, reduce the size of blocks, add the number of packages of transactions in each block, prevent congestion from occurring, and enable a significant increase in the functionality and performance of the entire ETC block chain network.
ETC的发行量和以太坊一样，都是一亿枚，每年都有少量通缩，大约是5%，ETC总量2.1亿，现流通1.15亿。上线了198家交易所，等于全网大大小小的交易所都上了是一个不折不扣的主流币，历史最高价333元，现价43.8元，目前市值排名第20。
The distribution of ETC, like that of Etheria, is 100 million, with a small annual deflation rate of about 5 per cent, with an ETC total of 210 million and currently in circulation of 115 million. 198 exchanges are on the line, amounting to an all-round and small exchange with a mainstream currency with a historic high price of $333 and a present price of $43.8, and currently ranked 20th in market value.
